Our suite is in a building with its own lobby badges. Can our door run on its own?+
Yes. The suite door sits on its own controller, and the building lobby stays on the building's system. If the building office agrees to enroll your staff, one card does both; if not, staff carry two cards, which is ordinary in medical buildings. Nothing of the building's hardware is touched.
We need to know who opened the records room and when.+
A networked reader keeps that log with timestamps, exportable for a compliance review. A two-person rule can be set in software if your policy calls for one. The override cylinder on that door goes onto a restricted key held by one named person.
The entry is a full-glass door. Where does a lock even go?+
At the head of the frame, as a magnetic lock, since a narrow aluminum stile has no room for a strike. An exit sensor above the door and a push-to-exit button beside it cover the way out, and the deadlatch already in the stile still locks the door mechanically after hours.
